How To Get More Google Reviews

In this post, we’ll be focusing on how to get more Google reviews! It is important to attract as many positive reviews as possible.

Word-of-mouth is an incredibly important form of marketing that should not be overlooked when planning your marketing strategy. Nowadays, word-of-mouth marketing goes well beyond verbal communication. There are many different digital platforms that play a role in reviews, referrals and customer feedback including Facebook, Tripadvisor, Zomato and Google. In this post, we’ll be focusing on how to get more Google reviews!

If you’re an avid Google Search user, you’ll be no stranger to the world of digital reviews. Google reviews are one of the first things users see when they search a business. This feature on Google is easy to use and widely favoured by consumers when leaving feedback for a business.

Since Google reviews are so front and centre on Google search results pages, they can play a huge role in the customer decision making process. It is important to attract as many positive reviews as possible to ensure this tool has a favourable impact on your business.

How to get more Google reviews

Set up your Google My Business account

First and foremost, you need to make sure you’ve set up your Google My Business account. With this account, you can have control over your business listing on Google. Google My Business lets you list your location, phone number, website and images. It also allows you to respond to customer reviews under your business name.

Without a Google My Business account, you won’t have the ability to respond to reviews or change your business details. But customers will still be able to leave reviews if Google recognises your business!

Ask existing customers to leave a review

If you have a good relationship with existing customers, ask them to leave a Google review. Long-term customers are the best audience to ask for reviews as you can be sure to receive positive feedback that you’re proud to have on your Google listing!

Respond to positive Google reviews

Your instinct will often be to respond to negative reviews to mitigate the situation, but it is also important to respond to positive reviews! If you leave ‘thank you’ comments on each positive Google review, other customers will be more inclined to leave a positive review. Responding to reviews shows your audience that you value customer feedback and encourages more people to show support for your business.

Prompt customers while they’re engaging with your brand

Add ‘leave us a Google review’ as a call to action in your marketing messages. If your customers are already actively engaging with your brand online or instore, they’ll likely be happy leave you a review if you prompt them to do so.

Link to your Google listing from your social media posts, in your email campaigns, on your website or in your email footer! This makes it easy for customers to quickly write a review or simply leave you a star rating. You could also prompt customers to leave a Google review with a call to action at the bottom of their purchase receipt!
